The best placement shortens the debris path while preserving delivery access, ladders, exits, fall-protection systems, and the truck’s pickup route. Walk the site with those competing needs in mind.
Trace the roof-to-container path
Identify where material will leave the roof and what lies below it. Protect windows, planting, hardscape, and people. Do not place the container where debris must pass over an entrance or public walkway.
Discuss surface protection
Roofing loads become dense. Tell the provider about cracks, pavers, recent concrete, slope, soft edges, underground structures, and drainage features. Ask what placement surfaces it accepts and what protection options are available.
Control the load
Keep shingles, felt, flashing, and related material within the container and below its fill line. Ask whether wood, tile, or other debris can be mixed. Sweep the loading path for nails and sharp fragments throughout the job, not only at the end.
